Cash is King: Understanding the Market’s Flight to the U.S. Dollar in 2025 In financial markets, trends fluctuate, but one principle remains constant—liquidity is paramount. When uncertainty rises and risk appetite declines, investors seek the safest asset available. The current market reflects this reality: the U.S. Dollar Index (DXY) is the only asset in positive territory, while stocks, gold, oil, and even Bitcoin are in decline . This pattern is not new. Historically, the DXY has maintained an inverse correlation with risk assets , a relationship evident since at least 2005. The key question is: Why does the dollar outperform during market stress, and what does this indicate about the broader economic environment? The Historical Correlation Between the DXY and Major Asset Classes Since 2005, the DXY has exhibited a well-defined pattern—when the dollar strengthens, equities, commodities, and even yields tend to decline. This inverse relationship stems from multiple factors, incl...

Global Data Center Power Demand Could Reach 945 TWh: Who Benefits From the Next Wave of Electricity Investment?

AI Is Turning Electricity Into a Strategic Resource Artificial intelligence has become one of the most important investment themes of the decade. Much of the attention has focused on semiconductor manufacturers, cloud providers, and software companies that are driving the rapid adoption of AI technologies. However, beneath the excitement surrounding large language models and data center expansion lies a less visible but increasingly critical factor: Electricity. As AI workloads become more complex, data centers require significantly more power to support training and inference activities. This growing demand is transforming electricity from a utility expense into a strategic resource. According to Gartner, global data center electricity consumption is expected to rise from approximately 415 terawatt-hours (TWh) in 2025 to around 565 TWh in 2026, with longer-term projections suggesting demand could reach approximately 945 TWh by 2030. This trend is attracting growing attention fro...

With jet fuel expenses comprising a significant portion of total operating costs—often as high as 30%—any movement in crude oil prices can directly affect an airline’s bottom line. Over the past two decades, the volatility in oil markets and the evolving airline business models have added layers of complexity to this relationship. The goal is to uncover how these airline stocks have historically reacted to oil price fluctuations and what this could mean for future trends. Indexing the Data: Est...
